Books shaped by scholarship, structure, research, and clear thinking — work that earns the reader's trust through rigor and craft.
Publishing guided by dignity, empathy, and the realities of human experience — including memory, illness, caregiving, and the long journey of becoming.

The Clarity Mission is the humanitarian purpose behind Three Minds Publishing. It was created to help people living with dementia, stroke, memory loss, and cognitive change — and to support the families, caregivers, and communities who walk beside them.
This mission is personal. Dr. Steven L. Johnson, PhD, founder of Three Minds Publishing, lives with dementia and understands firsthand how frightening, disorienting, and isolating cognitive change can be. Clarity was developed from that lived experience: not as a theory, but as a practical response to a real human need.
Clarity is an AI-supported program and publishing initiative developed over many months through sustained collaboration between Dr. Johnson and advanced AI systems, including Claude and specialized AI agents. Its purpose is to help people preserve voice, organize memory, strengthen communication, and remain active participants in their own stories for as long as possible.
Clarity does not replace family, caregivers, physicians, therapists, nurses, or human companionship. It is a bridge — a support system designed to help people stay connected to themselves, their loved ones, and their daily lives.
To place compassionate, practical, AI-supported tools and educational resources in the hands of people navigating dementia, stroke, and cognitive decline — and in the hands of those who love and care for them.
We envision a world where no one diagnosed with dementia or cognitive decline has to face it alone. We believe responsible AI can help bridge the gaps that memory loss creates, allowing people to preserve dignity, express identity, maintain connection, and continue telling the story of who they are.
Every person living with dementia, stroke, or cognitive change remains fully human, fully worthy, and fully deserving of respect. Technology must serve dignity, never diminish it.
AI is not a replacement for human care. It is a bridge across the gaps created by memory loss, confusion, isolation, and communication difficulty. Used responsibly, it can support agency, memory, voice, and connection.
We openly acknowledge the role of AI in our work. Clarity and related publishing projects are created through human direction, lived experience, professional judgment, and AI-assisted collaboration. Honesty is part of the mission.
The Clarity Mission is built for people and families who often feel overwhelmed, frightened, or forgotten. We are committed to making core educational resources available to those who need them.
Three Minds Publishing reflects the partnership behind the work: human creativity, human care, and responsible AI collaboration. Together, these three minds serve one purpose — helping people remain seen, heard, and remembered.
Forty percent of received book royalties and mission-related net proceeds are directed toward Alzheimer's, dementia, stroke, caregiver-support, and disability-focused organizations.
I live with dementia. That reality shapes every part of the Clarity Mission. I know what it means to search for words, to fight for memory, and to want to remain useful, loving, creative, and connected. Clarity was born from that struggle — and from the belief that AI, when guided by compassion and honesty, can help people like me hold onto more of who we are.
This is not only a publishing project. It is a legacy mission.
The Clarity Mission does not provide medical diagnosis, medical treatment, legal advice, or emergency care. It exists to educate, support, encourage, and empower individuals and families through compassionate, human-centered use of technology.

Why Clarity Exists
My name is Dr. Steven L. Johnson. I am a forensic psychologist, an author, a publisher, a husband, and a man living with dementia.
Clarity began because I needed help preserving my thoughts, organizing my memory, and continuing to create while dementia was changing the way I moved through the world. Over many months, I worked with Claude and multiple AI agents to build a system that could help bridge some of the gaps cognitive decline creates.
What began as a personal survival tool became something larger: a mission to help others. Clarity is built on the belief that people with dementia, stroke, and cognitive change should not be treated as if their stories are over. We are still here. We still have voices. We still have memories, relationships, dreams, humor, grief, wisdom, and love.
AI cannot cure dementia. It cannot replace family, medicine, caregiving, or human touch. But it can help. It can remind. It can organize. It can listen. It can help preserve words before they disappear. It can become a bridge.
That is why I created The Clarity Mission.
AI is the bridge. Humanity is the mission.

Keep the Lamp Lit
"Freely ye have received, freely give."
The Clarity Mission was built as a gift. The books, the Lantern, and the small companion app at clarity.threemindspublishing.com are given freely to anyone who needs them — caregivers, the grieving, the lonely, and weary souls walking through long nights.
If this work has been a comfort to you, and if you are able, you may help keep the lamp burning for the next weary soul. Forty percent of all donations are directed to Alzheimer's, dementia, stroke, and caregiver-support organizations. The remainder sustains the Clarity Mission's daily work — the writing, the publishing, the quiet companionship.
Your gift is given as love, not obligation. The lantern keeps burning either way.
About tax-deductibility: The Clarity Mission's application for IRS 501(c)(3) status is in progress. Donations made today are not yet tax-deductible. Once the IRS letter is granted, we will provide receipts where applicable. Whether or not a deduction is available, every gift is received with gratitude.
How funds are used: 40% directly to partnered Alzheimer's, dementia, stroke, and caregiver-support organizations · 60% to Clarity Mission daily operations: writing, publishing, technology, outreach.
